About Our Online eBook
“Papaw’s Thoughts for Loss” is published to help you comfort children thru their initial encounters with death. These are the spiritual strategies of a Christian grandfather as he reflects upon the wisdom of his long deceased grandparents.
Spiritual battles have remained the same throughout time, so for centuries loving parents and grandparents have intuitively prepared children to battle doubts of God’s goodness during heartache.
Once read by village scribes in stained parchments, these are ancient traditions, Biblical insights easily understood and interpreted with a loving heart by Christians in every generation.
Our book “I’m With Jesus” implements the thoughts presented on this website so they can be communicated to grieving children during casual read-aloud times.
*
When presented to families following the passing of a loved one, the editing and reading of the book becomes a family project during the initial stages of grief.
*
Personalizing the words and pictures in their book with memories of loved ones in heaven helps these families share their thoughts about God and His purpose in life and death.
Just as these thumbnail images will enlarge with the click of a mouse, so our memories will empower us with an enlarged sense of God’s goodness.
Hurting children will always need guidance in finding answers to their awkward, unspoken questions about God and the pain of loss.
We may get through a healthy period of tears and grieving . . . but our childhood spirit of innocence aches with scars if we lose sight of God’s goodness through unanswered questions.
However, we learn and heal as we find answers.
I hope this web site can help you discover something new and wonderful about God’s goodness in spite of the pain of loss. Then you can comfort your children at this painful and frightening time of growing up.
*
The Empowering Memories exercise strengthens our spirit so we can guide a child with loving answers to their awkward questions.
It is designed to help focus our thoughts toward heaven in preparation to console a grieving child.
*
Strategically focusing a few simple principles of your faith will enable you to comfort a child with your belief in God’s innate goodness.
Then like my Granddaddy, and his Grandpa before him, you can give a child a lifetime of consolation as you explore your faith together and find answers to those awkward, unspoken questions.
